Research & Development
Hybrid Organ’s R&D and clinical studies capacities are significantly
supported by the company’s cooperation agreements with the Charité,
Medical Faculty of Berlin's Humboldt University, its Transplantation Center
at the Campus Virchow Clinic, the Division of Experimental Surgery of
the Surgical Department and the Charité Institute for Transplantation
and Organ Replacement (CITO).
Hybrid Organ has created an R&D management system for design control
procedures, R&D studies and documentation according to international
standards (ISO 9001 ff.).While Hybrid Organ enables strategic industrial
R&D for product development, fundamental research is also possible
within the university cooperation. Research operations are conducted at
the Biomedical Research Center of the Charité, which provides multi-user
equipment for electron microscopy, mechanical laboratory, metal and plastic
work, electronic laboratories, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology
and histology. The ultimate goal of Hybrid Organ’s fundamental research
program is the development of new medical therapies with bioreactors and
hybrid organs.
Hybrid Organ’s core competencies are completed by a number strategic
R&D co-operations. In the field of chemical engineering techniques
and cell systems, Hybrid Organ is working together with the University
of Bielefeld (Biotechnology) and in the field of process engineering and
reactor systems with the Technical University of Berlin (Bio Process Engineering).
The company also collaborates with another Berlin-based company, Biochrom
KG, which specializes in GMP media cultures
